take your low e string tuner. and tune it down until you are able to untie the string. DON'T but play with that tuning.

(im exaggerating i just never saw any practical use of tuning down that low)

Drop A is like 666 steps from standard E. Drop A also means your bassist fails.

Is there such a thing as a heavy riff with out chugging on the e string?
#13
Do you want drop A or A standard tuning?

Don't know a drop a band but nile uses A standard...
#14
honestly if you have to go that low you aren't doing it right.

just make your bassist play that ****.

Unless you have really heavy strings (like a heavy seven string set and put them on a six string and leave out the high e) or a seven string guitar I wouldn't try it.

You covering Necrophagist or something? Just tune your low string to A and then tune the rest like you practically would.

A- 7th fret note of Low E
D- 5th fret note of A string
G- 5th fret note of D string
B- 4th fret note of G string
E- 5th fret not of B string

is there a thread that will help define all these tuning types for people, or at least show them the "formula"?

nah if you have 12-56 you should be good. thats what i use on a 6 string and it sounds fine. the other tools must be trying it with 8-40 or something. i think it sounds great.

Not if youre using heavy gauge strings like 13's.
Got a question about Baritone guitars? Feel free to PM me.

Thanks to UG, I converted from Metalcore to some "real" Metal.
