I just saw this used Peavey 5150 combo on craigslist for $500.
I am assuming there's something wrong with the amp, because it's such a great deal.
What would a I look for to see what condition it's in when I go to try it out?

Not necessarily, that's what I bought mine for.

Move all the knobs on it, see if any are scratchy. Turn it up loud if you can, check for pops and cracking noises. Make sure all the tubes are glowing, ask how long it's been since they've been replaced. Look inside it and make sure there's nothing that looks out of place, etc. Make sure it sounds good

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

If it was a few minutes ago, that's because I edited the title to sound better.

^In these times anything's possible. I picked up my BJr practically unused for 275 dollars.
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not
