Or, Bassists that if their bass skill was converted to guitar skill they'd be better then the guitarists.

Example:

John Entwhistle compared to Pete Townshend(gotta admit, non of his solos were great, if they were).

The bassist of Rancid compared to the guitarist(Maxwell Murder anyone?)

Justin Chancellor of Tool

adam jones is more creativ, imo, but justin seems to have the higher technical abilities

Paul McCartney had better guitar chops than both John Lennon and George Harrison in the early days, he also was crazy good at bass. However, that changed when the world found out that George was one of the best English slide guitar players.

Rush. Nothing bad about Alex Lifeson, but, Geddy Lee is incredible

Kyuss...maybe.

I like both the guitar playing and the bass playing. Hard choice.

His bro's guitar slapping sounds like String fapping.

Lars K. Norberg of Spiral Architect. An insane bassist, although the guitarist is still a bit of a technical monster.

Joy Division/New Order.

The guitarist really only used chords and really basic melodies, but the bassist always had something going on. Ol' Peter Hook

How about Black Sabbath? I do like Tony Iommi but on songs like War Pigs and Electric Funeral the bass is much more imaginative and interesting to listen to.

Plus a million.

Also, The Clash.

And Rancid.

And Green Day.

(I just thought of punk bands with decent bassists, didn't I?)

I am quite sure he quit the Experience because he wanted to play the guitar.

We were learning about Funk in Case Studies the other week and Bootsy Collins came up repeatedly along with Larry Graham. Wicked awesome bassists! He is as good as he is hilariously sparkly dressed. If it has sparkles on it, Bootsy has it.

Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza. Their guitarists are good, but bassist is hilarious. It looks like he has no idea what he's doing, but actually has some of the coolest sounding bass lines out of any similar bands.
