sorry for pestering you all but seeing as you just told me the pattern for barre chords, is there any easy way to make a chord diminished augmented or suspended, or is it different for every chord?
There are movable diminished chord shapes I think, but no-one uses them, dim7 are much more common.

For an augmented chord shape, just make an Fmajor chord (not the bar one, but on the top 4 strings) and move all your fingers down (physicaly up) one string.

Learn how to augment, diminish and suspend E and A. Then just move those suckers up the fretboard.
Learn the intervals of the major scale and learn about chord construction.

The 5 is the root, the 4 is the 3rd, and the 3 is the 5th.
This G major chord helped me figure out this stuff.
Flatting the 3rd determines whether a chord is minor or not.
To augment a chord, play a major chord with a raised fifth.
To diminish a chord, play a minor chord with a flatted fifth.

Major chord
E+----------------+
B+3---------------+
G+4---------------+
D+5---------------+
A+----------------+
E+----------------+

Minor Chord
E+----------------+
B+3--------------+
G+3--------------+
D+5--------------+
A+----------------+
E+----------------+

Diminished Chord
E+----------------+
B+2---------------+
G+3---------------+
D+5---------------+
A+----------------+
E+----------------+

Augmented Chord
E+----------------+
B+4---------------+
G+4---------------+
D+5---------------+
A+----------------+
E+----------------+
Augmented 1 3 #5
Diminished 1 b3 b5

not to be a dick.. but it will be very helpful to find the intervals and work it out for yourself..

the more you do it the more natural it will become and before you know it you'll be able to play it anywhere on the fretboard without even thinking about it.
