In audacity, how do I import a song from iTunes without it being a spazzy mess of noise?

I have this problem. I have tried using MP£s, but it still didn't work. Broken?
EDIT: MP3s not MP£s.

are you opening them or importin them? if you just find the file on your comp, right click and open with audacity it should work

How do I convert to MP3?

(It's currently AAC or whatever it's called.)

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing > Import Using: MP3 Encoder


Right click the song > Convert to MP3

you need the LAME converter.. type in "audacity LAME" on google, its like a codec thing
