Likely going to be a dumb question to most, but I'm a rookie after all. Why are the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 15th frets etc marked as they are?
#2
Makes it easier to remember what frets your on and stuff.

It marks the odd frets after the firsts and 12/24 is where the scale starts over.
No marker = even, marker = odd

Granted, I could have worded it better, but the point is still there.

They mark each natural note. (No flats or sharps.)

Yeah... except that they don't. Third fret on the G string is A#/Bb. Seventh fret on the B string is F#/Gb. Only two notes at the 9th fret are natural.

Yeeeeaahhh no.

They are just a way to mark what fret your at, marked odd fretts, un marked even frets, but every 12 is marked to signify the start of a new octave

open 6th string= E
12th fret on 6th string = E
24th fret (if you have one) = E
