Is it common for people to go to gigs by themselves?, I ask because theres a few coming up over the next few months in my area that I really want to go to and im figuring "why should I miss out on a great band because ive got no one to go with ?", but the whole concept of going by myself makes me feel a little awkward, just wanted to know really if alot of people did it and what kind of experiences have you had?
#2
No, I have friends.

Why not? Make some friends there. It should be fun either way.

i've been to shows by myself but it's just not the same as having friends with you. but you could always find someone to talk to there.

Going on your own is just as good as going with someone else.

If I go on my own, I like to check out the whole venue and see everything there is to see.

If I go with friends, I usually just find a spot closest to the stage and just talk with my friends until the show starts.

I say go on your own, it's an experience worth having.

I'm kind of stuck with going by myself, all my friends are occupied with other things...like living on the other side of the country. Or the atlantic.

I think going to a show with seats would be pretty easy. You just sit there and hang out and such.

Though I can't imagine going to a show with no seats without anyone. Now you're just that creepy guy standing there by yourself.
#13
I say it is fine to go by yourself. You might even make friends at the concert.

Get really drunk before the shows. You won't care that you dont have any one with you, because you'll be trying to make friends the whole time.

I've been to gigs alone a few times. Music aside, it's not very nice, especially if you're driving (and thus can't get smashed) but hey, if it's a band you really like, then i don't see anything wrong with it.

I'd much rather go with friends (usually happens), but I don't really have many friends who are keen to see all the music that i like (i have a group to go to metal gigs with, then i have a group to go to alt rock gigs, etc).

dude, theres no shame in going anywhere alone except for maybe your wedding or things along that line that i know UG users will come up with lol.
obviously you can run riot with your friends there...
no reason to not go see a band u like coz none of your mates are into them...
#21
Ask anyone if they want to go to a gig, usually people will go to see music just for fun.

it's not bad, due to my friends music taste and mine, i've ended up going to quite a few gigs alone, it's not that bad, you either meet new people, like the kind soul who let me have some water when i saw against me!, or you just kinda stick to yourself, which really isn't that bad.

of course, going with friends is always better.

He gets drunk in the parking lot. Then enough time passes during the show for him to be sober enough to drive home.
