That's such a horrible idea. I have 10s on right now in drop C and there's way too much give on the strings for trem picking top strings without massive amounts of wobble.

you can get to a# with 10's but 11's work better and stay in tune better. and make sure that the nut at the headstock has room in it for the heavier gauge strings if not it'll sound like crap

First of all Bb sounds far more metal than A#

Secondly I personally use .64 for the low Bb.

But yeah, you'll be fine.

I thought chuck norris played in drop E on a 3/4 scale guitar?
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

If you're drop A'ing with 10's, you're not planning on trem picking

You're playing half note chords at 45 bpm

He's not questioning your musical knowledge; your sense of humor is what's in doubt.

But seriously. I used 12s when I was in A# and it still seemed a little loose so 13s might work for you or might not. If they don't then hey; you're out like 7 bucks. big deal.

13's would be best don't listen to the idiots who say 10's because more then likely you have a longer scale guitar and anything thinner then 13 will be incredibly loose.
plus thicker strings have better tone.

Oh man talk about some crappy tone. I hope you aren't serious. lol I know drop c sounds like **** with 9's. We had to force another guitar player in a band we was in to quit using 9's and we was just in drop c. It was about the thinest weakest guitar tone I've ever heard.

I'd use 13's if I did it. I used to do it that low when I was younger. But I realized it sounds like mud even when you do have thick strings. It takes almost all the mids out of the notes even with the mids up. It don't sound like guitar to me. Drop c is as low as I'll go. Because it's like drop d just a little more melodic sounding and the notes come out nice and clear. I hate when I hear a band with A or A sharp or anything that low. I can't hear **** they are doing on guitar. Just sounds like noise. If they were playing a cool riff ya wouldn't be able to hear it well. why not just do it in drop c? It'll sound better to your audience and sounds just as heavy. You can get heavy in drop c or even standard tuning. You don't have to tune this low to get heavy if thats your reason.

Good god some people are crazy. Drop A with 9's? That's just crazy. I use 12's for drop C and they're still kinda loose, but that's how I like them, trem picking is no problem...To the TS yes you'll be fine with 13's

A disclaimer though, you're nut might not take too kindly to them.

I agree, drop C is about as low as I'd go with writing my own stuff...I do dabble with C# when I want to play some Between the Buried and Me...That's why I hate deathcore so much cuz it's constant breakdowns and the guitars are tuned so low you can't tell what they're playing....thank god a lot of bands are starting to tighten up the strings a little bit, I like drop Db too.
#32
i'm using 10-59 for B standard (7 string set.. you'd be 13-59 on a six stringer) and even just for B i'm finding its getting a bit floppy.

for myself tho, rather than try to find heavier strings, i'm simply going to sell some gear and grab the new Agile septor which has a 27" scale as opposed to the 25.5"

i play in A standard sometimes on my baritone. i use 12's.

i don't play deathcore.

it's for droning, and that low of a tuning is necessary.

I play drop B with 11's. Thing is, though, that I'm playing stoner/sludge metal when I do so.

i use that tuning with ernie ball beefy slinkys and they are PERFECT

Are the beefy's larger than the not so slinky's? I use the not so slinky's in C and it's fine but they get noodly in B.

I use 11's with drop D... seriously... drop B? WTF is this ****, your guitar isn't a submarine in the ocean of ****ty power chord metal. Going lower doesn't make it better.

You need different tuning for different songs
For Example:
Drop C: needed for every song on Disturbed's album Ten Thousand Fists.
Drop B: Needed for every song on Slipknot's album Vol. 3

Duh :P
