sorry. just a little on edge:/ for the making of a jazz song what tuning should my bass be in? and isnt there a like definite 'jazz scale' for bass? same questions for guitar cause my friends gotta do it too.
#11
SHEdit: ^No. There is no more a "jazz scale" than there is a "fugue scale".

standard tuning.

use a 12 bar blues progression.

or use a ii V7 I progression.

just use a minor mode, bluers scale or a mixolodian scale with chromaticism where necessary.

you really should be able to just jam a song up if your guitarist plays chords and if you wanna take lead.

Why would tuning affect what style you're playing?

You are obviously not an accomplished jazz musician.

Because some keys sound differently from others. Usually your tuning depends on what key you're in.
