on the recording it was a es335 .
however in live with a strat , he uses it was a strat in bridge position with the tone knob rolled down.

Well, not exactly....

But, yeah, on the recording ES-335 i.e - humbuckers. All, except the solo. That was done on a strat.

and, ^^^ - the bridge p/u on a SSS strat is fine. Pretty trebly yes, but either roll the tone down, or use it for nice and crunchy rhythms

Well, I do the same when playing lead on my strat. Use the middle occasionally...
But for rhythm, a bit of nice crunch is nice IMO...
