Alright Whenever I play, I rest the thumb-palm area of my hand on my low E string and sort of rest it there. It isn't palm muting because it is about half way between the neck and bridge, also as I sweep or do a quick run down the neck my thumb-palm, I have no clue what the hell it's called, slides smoothly down the strings uniformly with my picking.

I was wondering if this is considered anchoring or if anyone else does it. Also, does it affect speed very much?

I've been playing about 3 years and can do about 170 bpm fairly consistently and always hit around 160 bpm consistently. (doing 16th notes) and I am just trying to perfect my technique.

Thanks
