Depends what input you have it in.

The left one is 4 ohms, right one is 16 ohms.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

on teh cab i have the selector switch for mono or stereo and obiously i will use the mono option. the left input is 4ohms and the right one is 16 ohms for mono and for stereo they are both 8 ohms each. so i guess i plug in the 16ohms with the mono selected on teh cab right? and on the amp i have external speaker output with a switch to choose from 8 or 16ohms. i plugged it in the 16 ohm one. and i have the internal speaker (of the combo 1x12) rated @ 16ohms.

my common sense told me that from the cab i plug in the 16 ohm (right) with mono mode, and the from the amp's external speaker output i choose 16ohms. but i read that if i use external speakers in conjuction with the internal speaker taht is rated @ 16ohms i have to select 8 ohms on my amp. dunno im confused.

this is what the marshall manual says:

As the TSL601 and
602 combos have the internal speakers wired for
16ohms, the selector should be set for 16ohms as
standard. If an extension speaker system is used
in conjunction with the internal speakers
then this
should be of 16ohms impedance and the selector
set for 8ohms
. Obviously, if the internal
loudspeakers are disconnected, then the selector
should be set to match the connected speaker
system. With the TSL60 head, obviously any 8 or
16ohm loudspeaker system can be used

so if its a combo its like i have 2 cabinets so for my 16ohm cabinet i select 8ohms on my amp?
