hi gain on my Randall is beautiful, but the background hiss/hum is NOT. is there an inexpensive noise gate that won't kill the tone but eleminate the hiss/hum? i'm not aware if there's a FAB pedal for that kinda thing. i don't care if the pedal is made of plastic/metal, but the sound is what i'm concerned about.

thanks

wait, what's considered inexpensive?

Well considering he is asking about a FAB version I would say that is way out of his league....

Also you can check out the Behringer NS-2 clone they run $29.99 new

Yeah, a used Boss NS-2 or the Behringer clone. These pedals are better at eliminating hiss and hum than they are at feedback. As soon as you have the threshold dial past 3 o' clock an element of tone suck becomes evident. But you only need the threshold up that high when gating feedback.

alright i think i'll check the behringer one, i only need hiss/hum taken care of, not feedback. if the Behringer doesn't look good, then i'll go rocktron.
