hey guys, so a little while ago i was pretty set on an orange Tiny Terror head, still really like it, but am starting to realize that there may be some other options. I recently saw the egnateur (spelling?) rebel 20 and the peavey valveking head.

i already have a cab, so i figure i'll just get a cab. I play punk and clean/crunchy stuff. I play with a hard hitting drummer, but only at small gigs. my budget is around 500 bucks.

any suggestions? anyone ever play a rebel 20?

discuss!
thanks

then fender champ is actually kind cool. Crunchy, cheap, portable, and loud with a cab. Crate Blackhearts are cool as well.

Go in pawnshops that carry vintage gear and try out full-tube amps there, I've got a bass head lately made by a tube company that literally copied the traynor bass masters (the poor man's plexi). The head itself cost me 200 $ CAN, 50w and enough headroom to drown anything short of a hyperactive drummer, a schyzophrenic singer and a bass playing through a 4*15 cab...

You'd be surprised how much old gear you could get your hands on, also look in local forums for gear junkies selling the stuff they've had in their closets for decades, I've got a traynor yf-10 cab that way for less than 150 bucks.

Advice: carry the money with you, argue with them so that you pay less but cash and lastly I'd advice carrying your own guitar, you'll be asured to play the amp with something that'll sound much more like what's going to sound at home.

Last but not least, these old amps with one channel are made to be CRANKED, try it at 10-11, you'll know what real overdrive is all about.
I love music, if music would be a girl then I'd date her, until then let's get back on Earth

alot of people have found that the rebels are meh...

I can attest to this. Egnater really dropped the ball on this thing. The guys at GC were coming all over it though.
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

The Handsome Devil cranks about 100.8 DB clean through the BH112 cab, that's dimed volume and about 2.5 to 3 in drive, it is still pretty clean and will do the punk. It doesn't really get much louder as you crank the drive channel, just dirtier.

I tossed my Jackhammer in front of it through my Jackson soloist with a JB turned the volume all the way up and gain all the way down. About 107 DB.

This was taken it the 15w mode. Not really much drop is 7w.

I didn't care for the Egnater just because of price. The TT was cool but was too much as well. Both of those were nice but way too much.

that might do it then, if the drummer isn't a bodybuilder or something.
