unfinished relentless pretentious business.

under the mattress,
her entry to pathos;
a letter unfinished
by
pens on a tightrope.

the smudge of a status
relinquished atrophic
to wings of a
messenger, sleeping,
not wanting.
oh Icarus, my Icarus -
avoid my dispatching,
your wings are too
fragile
for this package, confounding.

"i find you in dreams,"
she says, blah blah
bumble bees
in the honey on dusty
paper weights and
motionless joint-knees.
"i can't seem to finish
the works of my wishes;
i cannot! i forgo! oh,
the lonesome **forbearance!"
(please insert "laziness" at **...)

what she does not
understand
is that i am a man,
and a letter is no better
to me than
a brush of her hand.

also, the irony.
There's a road that leads to the end of all suffering. You should take it.

The second stanza stood out as a diamond among the rubies. The third would have been just as well if it weren't for the last two lines, which I had trouble appreciating. After the run-on rhyme in the last stanza, which I enjoyed, the ending was great.
On the eight day we spoke back...

let there be sound.
