Hi I'm looking for a good pedal for playing metal with, I don't know where to start. Any advice/things to look at?

What is your amp and your budget?

I just blew out my practice amp, so I'll be getting a new one. IDK what it'll be though, I was looking at the spider III, but it doesn't sound too good. Looking at a Marshall tube amp of some kind most likely.

Are you wanting to build it or buy one?

How difficult is it to build one, and is it cheaper?

Metal Muff

I've heard things about the MI Audio Crunch Box though, they seem to be pretty pimp.

if you're getting a new amp, just get a tube amp. Tube distortion is going to be better than any pedal you find, IMO

Alot of metal guitarists use an overdrive pedal to tighten the tone though.

For the love of God, get the Boss Metal Core "ML-2". I've had it for more then a year and it's the heaviest sounding pedal out there. Any distortion you want, can be made with this pedal and then some.

Get a tube amp, first of all. Then try different overdrives into that.
