I want to start building my own pedalboard and I was wandering what you guys have in yours? I play rock and metal, and I use a Peavey Windsor live and a Crate V18 for practice. Give me suggestions for brands of the effects you mention.

EDIT: post pics if you got 'em.

From Left to Right:

Catalinbread Sagrado Poblano Picoso Clean Boost, Volume Pedal, BOSS DD-7, EHX Soul Preacher Compressor, Boss V-Wah.

Footswitch D is a tap tempo on the delay, A changes on of my amps channel and B changes the other (I use one amp purely for delay trails when the pedal is on and Mix them when the DD-7 is on bypass) Also, the Volume pedal only affects the volume of the delay trails. When I play metal, the clean boost is basically always on, and the compressor is used for solos.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I use a Boss GT-10, ZVex Fuzz Factory and a Digitech Whammy. On my GT-10, I use wah, fuzz, phaser/flanger, chorus, delay, reverb, some synth effects when I need/want to and, of course, I use my GT-10 for all my amp modelling.

But, I don't use effects that often, I usually use Fuzz, reverb, delay and wah when the song calls for it, with chorus on cleans (sometimes). That's my attempt at saying that I don't rely on effects, just a good guitar and a good tone.

I use it for a clean/mid boost during solos, the maxon is on all the time unless I'm looking for a mid-gain sound or using a clean sound.

Theres a couple videos on youtube of a dude with the same amp as me playing a metal muff and a boss metalcore, the audio isn't great though. Between these two pedals, which do you recommend? I will probably start with a good distortion pedal and a wah.

^Definately the Metal Muff. I personally don't like the boss Metalcore =/

On reputation alone I'd go with the muff, according to...let's see...EVERYONE, it blows 99% of 'metal' pedals out of the water. That and I don't much like Boss pedals in general.
