we are doing 20 songs in a gig in a local pub and we have decided to do 10 of our own songs and 10 covers but we cant decide which covers?
we was thinking one from the beatles
one from oasis
one from jimi hendrix
3 from arctic monkeys because so far we have:
drugs dont work
knockinh on heavens door
we would like populare songs so the crowd will be familiar with the songs.
any suggestions?
thanks

Don't do Drugs Don't Work - its an appalling dirge of a song and it'll kill your gig stone dead.

I'm curious as to the gig setup too before I shoot out answers for this. Twenty songs suggests that you are doing two sets of ten songs each. In that case, are you an opening band for someone who is going to headline with one longer 15 song set? Or is somebody going up before you and doing a set or two, leaving you to finish with two sets? Or are they actually expecting you to play 20 songs all in one go? (very unusual)

Also... the other band(s) that are on... are they cover bands or original bands? Does this pub cater to audiences who expect covers, or audiences who expect originals?

And when is it? You're suggesting that you want to learn ten songs. You'll need some time for that.

Could I get some more talent in the monitors, please?

I know it sounds crazy, but try to learn to inhale your voice. www.thebelcantotechnique.com
