Like the other day I saw some dude where he would slap the guitar for a percussion effect, double hit the bass string with his thumb, then strum the chord creating a nice rhythm feel imo. So far I've only focus on technical stuff reading things through the internet but I've never seen actual guitar acoustical-like techniques. It was just recently that I learned about guitar slapping, hitting the chord on the way up to create a ska sound. I want to learn more but I don't know where to start/look at. Any advice?

Yea popping with your thumb or plucking 2 strings with 2 strings at once is a nice technique sometimes. Also muting and strumming, pick scrapes.
Try incorporating them in your own style or look at artist who do them.
Easy as that.
