get an rp250, i went through almost exactly the same dilemma; dont get put off by it on the first impression. the presets wont exactly set your underwear alight, but it comes with this really nifty sofwatre so u can edit your patches through your PC, and also record like that, so it's really easy-to-use. And you can get some grat sounds, whereas you might find the boss and line 6 a bit synthetic.

you can edit your patches on the computer with the POD XT as well, just so you know. unless footswitchability is really important, i say get the pod. it works great for me

i say go with either the RP or the ME-50.

i like the fact that theres more interaction between you and the amp with those rather than just browsing on a screen.
