Fucking godly Speed Metal band, Nosferatu is almost definitely my favorite Speed Metal album.

I try and try to get the Helstar thread to be recognized.

This one will not go unnoticed!

Hel, even their newest album slays! Rare for reunited Speed/Power Metal bands. Nosferatu is still my favorite, but with tracks like Baptized In Blood, To Sleep, Per Chance To Scream, and Perseverance and Desperation, how could it not?

Meh, what're you gonna do? The metal forum's full of tasteless idiots . What album do you guys recommend I get next, I only have Nosferatu.

These guys and Racer X are some of the only 80's speed metal bands I really enjoy listening to.
#6
Burning Star, Remnants Of War, A Distant Thunder, or King Of Hell.

Pretend Multiples of Black doesn't exist.

Also, Mantipede, you need to listen to more 80's Speed Metal then.

Really great band, remind me of Queenscryche.

Vocals are very good, the guitar work is very well done also.
#9
I really should, I guess I've just never really bothered to look for other bands, got any recs for bands that kick as much ass as Helstar?
#10
Ahh Multiples of Black, what a shitty album.

I actually prefer Remnants of War to Nosferatu.

EDIT: Mantipede, Exciter. Their a little different than Helstar but definitely speed metal.

What's wrong with it? I've never heard it, I'm just curious... And yeah, Exciter definitely kick all sorts of ass.

So I finally "discovered" this band a few months ago with a blind buy of The King of Hell. The song Tormentor is absolute ownage. Great stuff. I just ordered Nosferatu and A Distant Thunder.

I expected you to have already known of this amazing band Penisaur.
You have finally disappointed me.

Great music though, no?

This is the only thread on this mind-blowingly good band?

Although, I've only heard Nosferatu, I own their discography on my comp. What's a good album to go to from Nosferatu?

I'd say Remnants Of War, but their first 4 are all great

I haven't heard The King Of Hell

Oh yeah, I rather liked what I heard from that link you posted in that pointless thread somewhere around here.

Nice taste Messiah. These guys own. I have a difficult time choosing if I like A Distant Thunder more or Nosferatu.
#20
All the albums are quitegood except Multiples of Black; not sure what they were thinkin'.
#21
Only have Remnants of War and A Distant Thunder, but they're both excellent. The band is further proof that traditional/speed/power is the greatest sub-genre of metal.

Hah, I'm surprised it took this long to disappoint you. I have many controversial opinions. Give me some credit for performing Helstar thread necromancy, though.

Did someone say somethin about a reunification album?

New Helstar album just came out. Black Cathedral sounds killer if you ask me.

Who are you? The prince of darkness? Don't you have any friends?

#32
I dig it. It's astounding that James Rivera can still sing so well after all these years, voice is so distinct. Perfectly suited for those riffs. It's just a modern produced Helstar, killer stuff.
#33
Killer playing, great music, but what is with that drum sound? Blegh. So distracting too.

eh, after re-listening I'm kinda on the side that drums are distracting. They're very loud in the mix, and they sound too thunderless. As if their sound was made up through having them higher in the mix.

But Helstar have never been about drumming for me so I can avoid it. Riffs are still god tier.
