Any tips on how to do this? Ive had a load of days off school recently for GCSE revision, but I always end up playing playstation or sitting on here all day. Im actually starting to worry, seems I have a severe lack of will power to do things that I dont like .

Also, any tips or revision in general? Or how to keep yourself away from UG?

Unplug your internet and hide your PS.

I didn't revise before my GCSEs and I did pretty well...ish.

Put your Playstation in a key locked safe and give the key to your mum. Ask her not to give it to you until you've revised.

Or just play LBP all day.

Work out what you need to study, break it up and try and study what you planned to study that day before you do anything else.

But do take breaks, the average attention span of a human being is actually pretty pathetic, something like 17 minutes.

Imagine yourself living on the streets or living with your parents working at Mcdonalds, that help you revise much?

I've been trying to write an essay all day, so far I've written more posts on UG than letters in my essay.

ive given my stuff to my parents... stay in school for longer afta to avoid distractions too. I used to always bunk revision by playing on the 360 and getting distracted by the computer, but now i can see i was being stupid, even though i still dont feel like revising....

UG should have parental controls -__-

Go to the library. That's what I do anyway. Once I'm there I have nothing else to do but study.

Good advice. I work much better at the uni library.

GCSEs mean nothing.

Only incentives to good well in GCSEs is:
- a few courses (medicine and some otehrs) want an A in Maths and possibly Science
- to get into a good college
- some sort of financial gain from parents for doing well in gcses.

admitadly i had 2 of 3 of those incentives and still most of the time i just revised the day before/the morning before the exam. Heck i had 3 hours sleep before geography and came out with an A*.

The worst thing is when you dont revise and get good marks. Last year for my year 11 tests (basically a test 1/2 way through the GCSE course) i didnt revise at all and got straight As. I actually wish I had have failed, then I would have incentive to revise.

Anyway, pulling out the HomeHub now

get yourself some willpower and just do it. when the work is out of the way you'll enjoy everything a lot more

Just asked to be banned from UG, switch everything off, if you have a TV or anything in your room, take it out, then just hole up in your room and revise. Just do it

You don't need to revise for GCSEs anyway
#25
I had that problem last year. I actually have more will power this year to do homework/revise because the subjects are harder, but I still find it really difficult to sit down and do english. I would say try to be organised, don't just say your going to do four hours of study in one night because you won't. Do about half an hour, then go and get a drink and something to eat then come back to it, best thing I can think of.

well, try removing all sources of distraction. That means locking up your psp, nintendo or whatever that distracts you. Set up passwords for your computer or simply lock up the keyboard and mouse. Alternatively, go to the library or study rooms in your school. Make yourself sit there, and you might be more motivated to study when everyone around you is studying.
