Can you guys help me with some alternate picking and speed building excersizes?
All I have is a little one I ripped off of Kirk Hammett, and it doesn't seem to do the trick. Here it is, if it helps.

e|---------------------------------------------12-13-15-15-13-12----------------------------------
B|---------------------------------12-13-15-------------------------15-13-12-------------------------
G|-------------------------12-14-------------------------------------------------14-12-------------------
D|-------------12-14-15-----------------------------------------------------------------15-14-12----------
A|-12-14-15------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------15-14-12-
E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone have anything better?

This, in itself, is basically an expanded E pentatonic scale.

It's not a bad exercise, you can modify it to make it more challenging as well, like try different note groupings on each string like 5s and change your string switching a bit like

e------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G--15-14-12----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B---------------15-14-12--------------15-14-12--------------------------------------------------
D----------------------------16-14-12--------------16-14-12-------------16-14-12------------
A-------------------------------------------------------------------15-14-12-------------15-14-12
E-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

etc.
ohai little sig.

We're supposed to be doing celebrity powerpoints (I did Metallica), but I'm done, so I'm on UG.

I'd say it's A Natural Minor myself.

It looks like one of the modes honestly, Phyrgian in E to be more precise. Still a minor scale, has a bit of a Spanish feel to it though.

The modes are great to practice, same with the extended positions for Harmonic Minor or Hungarian Minor. Both fun scales with a little more flavor to them.

It's just a pattern - without any context it could be any one of 7 scales.
