I was doing random clicking on wikipedia when I came across this picture.

Thats in texas. The guy is on a crane to lift him up to the signs.

In PA, our signs are tiny compared to that.
Why are we so wicked indecisive
Let's hit the streets with toy explosives
And let's enjoy what we have

Being from Texas, no, the signs usually arent that big...and usually the speed limit is 70. I am thinking that sign is down in south texas where there aren't many big cities...

Ok, what does being illiterate have to with big signs?

Looks like a sign by the highway. Things look smaller than they really are when you zipping by at 70 mph.

Wo wo wo buddy, who you callin illiterate? These signs are out in east and south Texas where its just open road for a good couple hours. Its to make sure drivers aren't going over 100 cuz I guarantee you wont miss that no matter how fast you're going. And there's plenty of State Troopers to enforce it.

Think about what you're saying before you type it.

I used it more as a figure of speech. Not everything I say is as literal as it seems.

I was using illiteracy to point out their inability to read, as in something smaller than the size of their own body. Books, anyone? -_-

Think about what you're saying before you type it.

Large picture is LAAAAARRRGGE.

And no, signs aren't that big here.
Thank you, and may raw rock kill you forever and ever, amen.

I can see that if it's on a major highway or something, then that's acceptable. If signs that huge are everywhere, that isn't. That sounds like laziness at the expense of the tax payer.
