Me and my band will be performing in a punk cover concert split over three days. We will be doing a set of 35 to 40 cover songs. I've already selected around 35 songs. My main selection criteria were lasting influence and popularity of the bands and songs and I also included some of my personal favorites. I've tried to cover most of the important bands from the start of punk to present day. I've excluded both proto and post punk. Here are the songs I've selected:

01 - Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones

02 - Anarchy in the UK - Sex Pistols

03 - Holiday in Cambodia - Dead Kennedys

04 - London Calling - The Clash

05 - Straight Edge - Minor Threat

06 - Johnny Hit and Run Pauline - X

07 - Ever Fallen in Love - The Buzzcocks

08 - Sonic Reducer - Dead Boys

09 - Rise Above - Black Flag

10 - Last Caress - The Misfits

11 - Oh Bondage Up Yours - X-Ray Spex

12 - Pay To Cum - Bad Brains

13 - Alternative Ulster - Stiff Little Fingers

14 - Knowledge - Operation Ivy

15 - American Jesus - Bad Religion

16 - Punk Rock Girl - The Dead Milkmen

17 - Fat Lip - Sum 41

18 - Phantom of The Opera - Me First and The Gimme Gimmes

19 - Scotty Doesn't Know - Lustra

20 - I Fought The Law (Cover) - GreenDay

21 - Basket Case - GreenDay

22 - I Just Want Some Skank - Circle Jerks

23 - Punk Rock Love - Casualties

24 - All The Small Things - Blink 182

25 - New Rose - The Damned

26 - Ring of Fire (Cover) - Social Distortion

27 - Teenage Kicks - The Undertones

28 - 1985 - Bowling For Soup

29 - So What - Anti Nowhere League

30 - Something I Learned Today - Husker Du

31 - LinoLeum - NOFX

32 - Rancid - Ruby Soho

33 - Punk's Not Dead - The Exploited

What do you think of the selection? Have I managed to cover most of the important bands and songs? Or should I take out some of the songs? Please give me your recommendations. I need around 40 good songs and the criteria is influence and popularity. Please leave out post and proto punk.

God Save The Queen. And whats with the crap pop-punk??

20 - I Fought The Law (Cover) - The Clash

That's better.

What kind of situation are you in where you need to compile such a list? Be more specific.

And I don't think Lustra could be considered to have any "lasting influence," or even any popularity. Take that one out for sure.

17 - Fat Lip - Sum 41
18 - Phantom of The Opera - Me First and The Gimme Gimmes
19 - Scotty Doesn't Know - Lustra
20 - I Fought The Law (Cover) - GreenDay
21 - Basket Case - GreenDay
24 - All The Small Things - Blink 182
27 - Teenage Kicks - The Undertones
28 - 1985 - Bowling For Soup

All these songs must be removed from the list. Replace these songs with some better songs to cover:

Maimed and Slaughtered - Discharge
Broken Bones - The Freeze
Fugazi - Waiting Room
Complex - Limp Wrist
John Wayne Was A Nazi - MDC
Code Blue - TSOL
Boxcar - Jawbreaker
Conflict - Conflict

Guaranteed good show with these covers added in. More of a spectrum of punk, a bit broader representation with some really good songs.

If you need a copy of any of these songs, lemme know.

I hate him. You should tell him that.

why do you need to play that long?

Just cover yerselfs in toilet paper, get wasted and possibly on lost of drugs and just play MUMMIES songs and break **** till they tell you to leave... you could manage to get about 5-9 minutes before they ask you to stop playing and then another 3 before they cut you off and then 8 before they make yer drummer stop playing by force.

That's be a pretty good representation of punk.

This. Also, take out the Exploited.

Ring of Fire is very, very good as performed by Social D, but like many, you tend to overlook their earlier work. For some badass punk from Mike Ness, go with anything off of Mommy's Little Monster. My favorites are the title track and Hour of Darkness.
Throw in something by the Bouncing Souls. "Kid" is probably my current favorite of theirs.

Still, its a punk concert, so you have to throw the audience a curve every once in a while. Cover something they don't expect, but will like. I'm thinking of Oingo Boingo as I type this.

And of course, do away with the pop as other posters have specified.

Rancid - Radio
Leftover Crack - Nazi White Trash

Should whack them in there for sure.

Get him into blues. Lyrical depth-not so much. But it is groovy and it is black people's music so if he doesn't enjoy then he is not a true black person.

I suggest you don't play Lustra. It won't go over well at all.

Replace that with Dicks Hate The Police - The Dicks
