does it count if you exhale?

I told my friend I could not breathe for 2 minutes, which I can, and he didnt believe me. So I had to prove it. I held my breath for about a minute and 45 seconds, and for the last 15 seconds I exhaled, whithout reinhaling, just to releive some pressure on my lungs.

He told me it doesnt count because I exhaled, and I told him it didnt matter because I didnt get another breathe of air. I further explained if I was stuck underwater for 2 minutes, I know I couldnt breathe, but nothing would stop me from exhaling. Therefor it counted.

what do you guys think?

Hold your breath for three minutes. It will be awesome. And at the same time eat your friend's skin.

it doesn't count. if you exhale then you're not holding your breath anymore, are you?
#9
when i think holding ur breath i think underwater, and u CAN exhale underwater so i think it counts, exhaling isnt breathing, breathing requires inhaling and exhaling

You weren't underwater. If you were under water it might have counted.

Also, relieving the pressure in your lungs? I'm not going to even start which that.

Hmmm...cool avatar you got there. Is it the "almost" invisible man? And surely, as a fellow 08'er, especially a November 08'er, you realise you'll just get burnt if you try and flame someone so? Meh. Welcome to the pit, indeed.

And TS, you technically didn't hold your breath. But you didn't breathe for 2 minutes. So for purposes of going without fresh oxygen, you did it.

You're right, I should've told him to fap and rape something.

Seriously, its the pit. Relax.

I'm kidding around, but if a bunch of people want to get offended, whatever.

Yes ALTHOUGH (caution science material):
The feeling most of us associate with having to breath is not lack of oxygen, just the build up of (potentially deadly) carbon dioxide in our bodies. Exhaling will expel a great deal of this, allowing your body slightly more time to not have the need to breath.

Tl;dr :Go for it, it helps and is logically allowed.

TS, when you turn purple, DO NOT START BREATHING AGAIN, this will only make things worse. Just hold your breath underwater untill you faint.

Cyanide works too.
