HIM are very un-emo, no need for emo bashing.

And I can't think of any, as most emo bands tend to just use LPs or Ibanez or whatever.

H.I.M are emo but that doesn't make their music bad

Emo guitar? Anyone with that little brains to make a guitar 'emo' is quite clearly stupid

Listen to H.I.M., then listen to Moss Icon or Indian Summer. Then kick yourself for confusing these two very different sounding types of music. H.I.M. have nothing to do with emo. Boring gothy pop rock made to sell to dumb 14 year old girls isn't emo.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I'm pretty damn sure he was being sarcastic.

If he wasn't, he's a fool, because

Is pretty much the literal definition of Emo music.

And, any of those Epiphone "Goth" monstrosities. They're not goth at all.

No, I was being serious. Traditional emo and skramz are both interesting, meaningful genres. Emptiveemo is shallow, idiot gothy pop rock for dumb 14 year old girls. Don't confuse that crap with emo.

Sorry, Stoat was right and you're ignorant. But at least that can be fixed.

This is Four Hundred Years, this is what 'real' emo sounds like.

The term is actually derived from 'emocore'. When some DC hardcore bands started playing stuff with slow, pretty parts New York style/tough guy bands mocked them as 'emocore' or 'emo'. It's pretty much always been applied to a specific type of hardcore punk and post-hardcore.

Anyways, SGs and Les Pauls are pretty standard issue guitars for emo, hardcore punk in general for that matter.

The range of bands thrown in the "genre" emo are too dissimilar for it to even be considered a genre... Call things what they really are...

Edit: Also, it may have stood for a real genre at one point, but really it no longer holds a true meaning.

many songs by metal bands have much stupider song names and lyrics.

TS : Emo's and punks are VERY different, but for the most part they both use LP's....but my own band I prefer fenders...especially mustangs...I do like most fenders though
