ctb has been researching everything that can be edited on the UG profiles, and added all this info to the first posts in the thread. Check it out, it's not too hard to figure out how to put all this into your profile!

Cheers!

No, I didn't ask if you could post the image, I asked if you could post the HTML code you are using...

What are you trying to do actually? You want to change your background to this image, or...?
#54
and i am trying to post it in my about me just as an image...the only thing is the image is huge

BACKGROUND IN THE CENTER OF YOUR PROFILE:
bl {background: url(URL) no-repeat bottom left #COLOR } td {height: 100%}

when i tried to put this code in, none of the other codes worked, AND my comments box disappeared. so i fiddled with it, and i still can't get it.
anyone know why this happens?

Won't work anymore.

If you try and edit the length and height of a box, the number changes to an @ symbol.

Oh geez, I don't understand any of this. This might take me a while.

It seems overwhelming to many people in the beginning. But try working with the example code to start with... Check out the image links in that code, and what they do. Once you know that, you can replace these links with images of your own, to make your profile exactly how you want it!

Are you familiar with HTML? It's not far off from the codes UG uses.
Like: <font color="red">HELLO</font>

These codes have similarities, it's just that the profile is like, split up, so you have to change the comment box, links at the top, your favourite guitarists, etc. All seperately.
#66
i don't think the codes for the 'hover effect' work (post #3)

I don't think I'm doing the background thing right.

I found the pic that I want, but I can't figure it out.

What did you write in your About section?

I put this: {background: url(URL)}: with the url of the pic I wanted...

don't laugh!! I'm a HTML retard!
#70
You're talking about the background on the left and right side of your profile, right? If so, you left out an essential part of the code... It should say this:

body {background: url(URL)}

Also, the code should always start with “<style type="text/css"><!-- “ and end with
“ --></style>”

So that makes this:

<style type="text/css"><!-- body {background: url(URL)} --></style>

So I keep everything in? where exactly do I put the url then?

or do I use HTML?
#72
<style type="text/css"><!-- body {background: url(URL)} --></style>

Copy and paste this code into your "About" section and replace the underlined part with the url of the image you want to use as a background.

#78
The code should work. Follow these steps:
1. Copy this:
<style type="text/css"><!-- body {background: url(URL)} --></style>
2. Go here: http://my.ultimate-guitar.com/main.php?mode=edit_profile
3. Go to the "About Me & Interests" tab
4. Paste the code you copied into the "About Me" field (where it says "[ html allowed ]")
5. Replace the underlined part of the code you pasted (URL) with the url of the image you want to use as a background:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y277/sr71stud/blink182.jpg
6. Make sure there are no extra spaces or other characters that shouldn't be there...
7. Now it should work! (I tested it, it works!)

Cheers!

Ok, I'll try and do it...

thanks again!

Ok now it's saying the pic is no longer available...

Sorry, I messed up the url, use this one instead:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y277/sr71stud/blink182.jpg

Make sure you copy the ENTIRE url, not the one with the ... in the middle. Just copy and paste it from your browser's address bar
