On a whole bunch of threads and things, i've seen people saying that Marshall MG amps suck really bad.

I have a Marshall MG 15DFX and I don't really see anything bad about it.

Could someone tell me what I'm missing here?

just wait til you get a chance to play a really good Marshall, or any other good tube amp for that matter. you'll hate you're MG after that.

but besides that, they're decent practice amps. They're just really overpriced.

It's actually the 100w one that is unacceptable, the smaller ones are just too expensive for what they offer

The tone isn't as good as that from a $1000+ tube amp. It's just selected for particular abuse here because... well, because this place is full of bandwagons and people who really sincerely want to believe that their Roland Cube sounds better than someone else's amp so they can look down upon people.

(PROTIP: Having owned/played multiple "big name" tube heads, I would lump the Cube amps in the same category as MGs. But don't tell anyone, they might get mad.)

To summarize what you'll hear, your tone sucks and you should feel bad.

Yeah
I f---ing paid $250 for a 30 watt practice MGDFX

It sounds good and the effects are fine but you're paying for the name

i have an MG30... i hate it because when you strum moderately hard you get a farting clipping noise from it.. Unlike a tube amp that turn that into tube breakup, Solid State clipping is nasty sounding.

it's not totally horrible, there are just way better options. that's why i'm getting an orange tiny terror tomorrow or thursday! woo

So would I actually, I own one, and I used to really like it but now I'm really starting to realise just how ****e it sounds.

Reminds me of writing with a blunt pencil, just nasty.
