so i originally had a beriger ultrabass combo amp at 180 watts, i went to the pawn shop today and bought a peavey 300 series monitor to upgrade turns out i'm a dumbass and read the power input instead of the output. its only 150 watts, was i better off with my combo?

No.

Haha care to explain? Is is going to be loud enough for me to play shows with?

berhinger gear has less power than printed.

it says 180, but people have tested it and gotten about 80.

so now you have true power, and a decent make.

so no.

Behringer is notorius for over rating wattages and general bad quality.

150 Watts still ins't going to large enough for gig, but it is louder and sounds better than what you were previously using.

I always hear people say 100 watts isn't enough for gigs, but I've gotten by with 100. Obviously I wasn't overpowering, but I could hear myself. Slightly.

One of my good friends has had his 90watt Behringer combo since 2005. Still works! Might be the oldest working Behringer in existence, I think.

sometimes Behringer lets a good amp loose. they try to destroy those ones before they leave the factory though. gotta keep the rep.

If They're old enough that they're made in the usa, they may be ok. maybe not. I use two old crate 4x10's for a makeshift 8x10 and after recent tweakings in the eq I no longer have any desire to replace them.

If they're newer and made in china i highly recommend you run screaming.

I have never heard of steel sound. May be good. May be crap. maybe somebody else knows. Might be a more regional small brand which can sometimes make for really nice stuff. If you have a chance to try anything out that'd be better than asking us.

EDIT: BTW sigged. that's awesome.
