Okay, what's the difference between these pickups?

Seymour Duncan Cool and Hot Rails

DiMarzio Chopper

I want to re-rig my guitar with a set of a particular one (i.e.- threesome of hot rails), but I don't know which set to get. Which would be the best in terms of flexibility (from U2/Frusciante clean to Mick Mars/Eddie Van Halen dirty)?

cool rails: "Smooth and bluesy single-coil-sized "rails" humbucker. Recommended for blues, classic rock, jazz-rock fusion, heavy rock and aggressive instrumental rock."

hot rails: "High output single-coil-size "rails" humbucker. Great for classic rock, garage, punk, heavy rock, thrash, classic metal and nu-metal."

http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/stratocaster/cutting-edge/hot_rails_for_s/

you can listen to sound clips of both at seymour duncans website.

i have hotrails, and there's a reason they have "hot" in their name. they have high output.

edit: for the most part, they are balanced pickups, and you can pretty much use them for whatever you want.

I see, so you can get the tonal dimensions I'm looking for?
