No they didn't.
I just went to my local rental store and they didn't have it.
Their computer said they must have, but it went missing and it wasn't in the Pink Floyd section.

They apologized and said that I can rent two albums for free.
So I rented The Wall and Icky Thump (White Stripes)

I'm listening to it right now and it's pretty good.
What a nice introduction with In the Flesh.

Thanks guys, for encouraging me to try Floyd, I think I might like it.

You can rent CD's from libraries in England, and have been able to for years, it's not a novel concept.

Usually, when you can guarantee that you can bring it back in a day it's three dollars (300 yen), but today it was the half-price day so I got it for 150 yen.
Two CDs and it's 300 yen for today, though usually it's 600.

Yeah I guess capsule hotels are insane, but we just love to not spend our money as much as possible and keep them.

the system indicates if it has been rented or not...someone's either stolen it or hidden it away/misplaced it somewhere.

Yes librarys have CDs, but nothing that was made in and after the 70's lol.

Clearly shown by the fact that they had Led Zeppelin I and not after that.
It's a copy right thing.

when you rent a cd, 10 percent of the fee goes to the record company.

I thought he was outraged because they didn't have any pink floyd.

Maybe I should wear my glasses more often

They had everything, even the newest one, BUT Dark Side of the Moon, which freaked the hell out of me when I saw that the collection was missing something so big.

They had four copies of the Wall and only had one DSOTM in the store, which went missing.

I told the clerk that it's a classic and it should have more copies.

But it's explainable because they didn't also have Sgt. Pepper...

won't renting encourage people to then burn the songs into their hard drive?

That's what EVERYONE does, but at least the company is getting 30 cents for every rental and the artist gets 3 cents...
Plus, when a rental store buys the CD or DVD or whatever, they are required to pay three times the normal price.

It's made so it's equal and fair.
I'm personally against filesharing, probably like the only teenager that ever said that, so I try to at least pay a bit and not go broke by buying entire albums.

I rent cd's all the time it's how I got most of my music on iTunes, you can get 10 cds for €2,5 total here! And they even have all this old metal and classic rock so it's perfect.

I don't know if you're insulting me or praising me

My library is very diverse, from J-Pop and Anime music from my childhood, some hip hop from my pre-teens, pop from my early teens and hell-of a lot of rock music from now.
