What's everyone been doing this year? List your top few shows.

It's been a good year for hardcore in Aus.

In no particular order..

1) FC Five from Japan + Miles Away and a few other great bands at this guy's apartment above a coffee shop. It was two minutes walk from Bondi Beach which is one of Australia's most famous beaches, it's in the middle of Sydney. Oh and the dude had a half-pipe in his living room, the bands played on it and there was skate-mosh. Pretty much the best location/show/atmosphere/night ever.

2) The Dead Walk!'s last shows. These guys have been in other notable Newcastle bands and are some of the founding fathers of hc in this shitty town. Over-18s show was a dress up affair and you couldn't get in if you weren't in costume. The theme was "undead bros and hos". All Ages was the next day. Supports were great, especially infection from Adelaide who not only play excellent music but are also some of the funniest people ever.

3) Ceremony. I don't know who the fuck people are trying to kid, this band is excellent. They had awesome supports for the whole tour as well.

4) Gorilla biscuits last night. Do I need to say anything more?

Plenty more as well. As I said, it's been good.

If we're talking Aussie bands then i'll list one -
No Apologies last show ever - and it was pretty damn awesome. Support from 50 Lions and Miles away was excellent. Good times were had all round.

Iron Maiden at Twickenham. Amazing.

Linkin Park were pretty good too.

Not been to many other big shows this year that I can remember
#6
The only show that comes to mind was carpathian/shipwreck/ceremony in brisbane, purely because of ceremony. I went to the show having never heard about them live and I was ****ing blown away, best show ever. Other than that all the shows I went to were pretty average.
#9
Trivium With All That Remains (and The Human Abstract)... it was awesome to say the least, but I'm going to see GWAR at the end of the month so I don't know if it will beat it or not... and next month I'm seeing As I Lay Dying, Darkest Hour, Protest the Hero, and The human abstract... Again...
When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all

I flew to California to see Sound and Fury this year (http://www.myspace.com/soundandfuryfestival). It had a pretty ridiculous line-up, so that was excellent, aside from the mosh bands. I also played my first show in May opening for Pulling Teeth, that was my other favorite show.
#11
As One Fest was pretty killer, as was the several Hostage Calm/Ambitions/Energy shows that I went to in Wally-ford.

Crime in Stereo was fun every time I saw them. Especially with Incendiary.

Converge, Genghis Tron, and Baroness was intense.

LLT, Ceremony, and Blacklisted was great.

Although they're not hardcore, Thorns of Life was the best yet.
My style is impetuous.
My defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious.

The Faceless, Abigail Williams, Decrepit Birth, Veil of Maya

The Roots and Immortal Technique
Opeth
Little Feat
Architects, After the Burial, Beneath the Massacre
Every Time I Die and The Bronx
Animosity and All Shall Perish
Born Of Osiris, Shai Hulud and After the Burial
Ruiner, Government Warning, Pulling Teeth, The Ergs, Sick Fix
Darkest Hour, Parkway Drive, Arsis, Winds of Plague, Abigail Williams, Arsonists, and more
Shadows Fall (SUCKS), Arsis, The Showdown
Every Time I Die, August Burns Red, The Human Abstract, The Bled
Bridge and Tunnel (members of Latterman) and Monument (and my band )
and countless smaller shows

All I can remember. Sure there's more. Not a whole lot of real hardcore, but most of it fits in this forum

I'm Jealous

for me....

and Hatebreed w/Emmure.

Let's see...

Means w/ Endwell + local bands
Johnny Truant w/ Straight Reads the Line + local bands
Foo Fighters w/ Against Me!, bunch of ****ty bands at Virgin Mobile Festival in Toronto
Misery Signals w/ Comeback Kid, Shai Hulud, Bane
Means final tour w/ Through the Eyes of the Dead, See You Next Tuesday + local bands

I think that's it, and a couple all local shows. Best set was probably the first one by Means. Worst band was, by far, See You Next Tuesday. Their equipment was malfunctioning and you couldn't hear a damn thing if you wanted to, which I didn't. Even the singer knew, "Sorry we suck so much dick".

The whole weekend was pretty sick. I stayed at some cheap hotel with the kids from Cold Snap (not the UK band) that was right down the block. It kind of sucked that Bracewar canceled, though.

First of all, I enjoy deathcore for it's complexity and it's the only genre heavy enough for me

Yea it seems like everyone around here disses and Core bands, even though they're allowed in here.

We only diss them when someone calls them hardcore.

more of when they call a metalcore band hardcore.
