Hey everyone, hope all is good.

Heres the thing, ive learned the principles of sweep picking, i can do 2 basic patterns. Ive been trying now for the past couple of days. Not major learning, just getting the basics to get my hands co-ordinated.

Now what?

Can anyone suggest some songs with simple-ish 3 string sweeps?

or any advise atall?

^ Yeah. Practice the technique on 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 string sweeps until you've nailed it, before you start trying to put it into songs.

When you have it, try the sweeping part in The Crusade by Trivium, I found that pretty easy to start me off, it's an (A? Can't remember, there's something else too, but it's the same shape) major sweep; 3 strings, 3 strings, 5 strings, 3, 3, 5, 3, 3, 5, 3, 3, 5, and then there's some 2s 3s and 4s.

It's not very challenging, it's all one shape that you just move up and down the fretboard, but i found it good to get used to not only sweeping the same distance every time.

Between the Buried and Me - Selkies (The Endless Obsession)

It's not that fast and the shapes aren't too hard. It's also one the best used and musical sweeps in a song. But finding an good tab is pretty difficult and they're all different. I'm still working on learning it myself. Maybe it's a little advanced for you since it's a 5-string sweep. But I find 5 string sweeps easier to do than 3. It's less work for your right hand.

The tab i found has some pretty difficult shapes, and it's a relatively fast sweep pattern...I find it pretty difficult, definitely can't get it up to speed and clean.

The intro to the GH2 version of "Jordan" by Buckethead. Its got simple, yet fast, three string sweeps, that are really fun to play.
it's all just coming back
it's all coming back

it's all coming back to me

^ Does Buckethead play them as sweeps? I always play it as taps.

----------------------------------16-------17----------------18----------
-------------------------16----15-------16----------17----17----------18-
----------------16----15----14-------15----------16----16----------17----
-------16----15----14-------------------------15----------------16-------
----15----14-------------------------------------------------------------
-14----------------------------------------------------------------------

You mean that bit, right? I roll my left hand over the first two notes in each pattern and hit the third with a tap, and continue up like that.

He plays it with right hand, all tapped.

Trilogy Suite by Yngwie Malmsteen has a cool 2 string sweep melody as the main melody in the first half.
