Hey everyone, im new to these forums. But i just thought of an issue im having currently and was wondering what different people's opinions on it are.

Well, im thinking that i want to buy a Fender Stratocaster. BUT, not one of the cheap ones or starter pack ones (i already have one of those), i mean like the one im looking at currently, an American Deluxe Stratocaster.

Just wanting different perspectives, what is your favorite or recommended Fender Strat to buy?

Im not a Strat fan but if you wanna get one you should get a "vintage" (at least i think thats what theyre called) one, with 21 frets. If you play classic rock you wont need the 22nd fret alot.

AFAIK Mex strats only have 21 frets and American ones have 22, not to mention better pickups, bridges, nuts, etc.

My American Standard (you can see 'er in my profile) is really good. I can definitely tell the difference between it and a MIM. MIM is good, but this is a lot better. Playability is great, and I'm a sucker for Fender necks. Although, once I did play this used Deluxe Strat in a local store, and it was awesome as well. Any MIA would be a great choice. Not sure about the Highway 1. I played it, and it was alright, but it lacked something, something my MIA seems to possess. Any Strat is a good buy, really.

Replace the neck with one with a maple board and you are correct my friend.

Eh, I never use my HH guitars 22nd, but that's preference.

Pickups; That's really opinion. Even though it's stock, I think my MIM kicks about 30% of the American models asses.

Bridges; I must agree. 2-point > 6-point.

Nut; How can a nut be better or worse if both are bone? =/

Anyway, TS, the Mexican-made strats are good guitars, but as long as you get a good one, an American Deluxe will wipe the floor with one, so if you can afford the Am. Dlx., go for it.

i like the japanese ones... or copies like japanese-made tokai, edwards, etc. G&L would be worth a look too. depends how much money you have, if it's a lot you could get something custom-built, or go with suhr, tyler etc.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Eric Johnson's model gets rave reviews. Especially from my guitar teacher.

I love the look of the John mayer signature tho, the blue one with the racing stripe

With no budget my choice would be the YJM strat or possibly an american HSS of some kind.

The fret work on my american deluxe is the best I've seen in any guitar. Just the overall quality of the neck is amazing. You can tell that they spent a lot of time perfecting it. But with the American Deluxe strat, you get locking tuners, better bridge, much better pickups (silent), a case, a strap, straplocks, polish, a cloth, and one of the best quality necks. You can use the trem on the American Deluxe and try to make it go out of tune, but it won't. My American Deluxe definitely going to stay with me for the rest of my life. When you consider all that it comes with and the quality of the instrument, the price is not bad compared to what other companies charge

Obviously very expensive.

Fender 'custom shop' closet, 1960's spec, with custom 60's pick ups, rosewood finger board with clay dot inlays, mint aged scratch play, sync trem (not 2 point), 3 tone sunburst. C shape neck with jumbo frets (22), truss rod adjustment not on headstock, vintage tuners, small headstock with "contoured body" decal, and Fender decal. Made by john cruz of the custom shop.

Thats the spec I have anyway.

Don't forget the S-1 wiring. It gives the guitar alot of variation.I have a MIM Tex/Mex and a American Deluxe. The Deluxe wins hands down.

I have an arctic white strat (MIM) and I would be happy if I just had some better pickups and a better neck.
