I know this is the pit and all, but try to take this somewhat seriously.

We had a bio quiz yesterday, and there was a question that I got wrong that I don't understand. The question was "If meiosis did not take place, what would happen to the chromosome count each generation? The 3 choices were A. Increase, B. Decrease, or C. Remain the same.

I put B, and the correct answer is A. Increase. Could anyone explain to me in a somewhat simple way why this is so?
