Why don't you put the cash that you were gonna spend on pedals into your amp fund. That way, you can get an even nicer amp.

You wouldn't buy the Cube 60 even if you wanted to, but you're asking if the 20 and 30 are any good?

Yeah, what's your budget?

You know, there just happens to be a review of that amp right on the front page, take a look at it.

I was about to say "thats a stupid idea", but it depends on what kind of pedal(s) we're talking about.

I speak from personal experience when I say that you'd much rather have the overdrive on a tube amp then rely on a Boss Metal Zone for your distortion.

even for a heavier metal sound?

no, they're horrible. Keeley modded boss mt-2's are great though.

if you want a really good metal distortion, get a metal muff, zvex box of metal, twin tube mayhem, or something like that. stay away from boss and digitech!

personally dude for $425 why not look for a used 5150 head? it'll give you a metal tone no pedal can give you, and it won't muddy up like alot of pedals do.

you'd need a cab though lol

Yes.
Overdrive does not mean you can't get a heavy sound. For example, you can get a good metal tone out of the B-52 AT-112 OVERDRIVE channel.

I can't be bothered to explain the difference, but I know if you google the difference between overdrive and distortion you can become enlightened.

all right, well thanks again UG community, you have defied my expectations once again. i live for the day when i can post a gear thread and have someone say "yes, that is a good peice of gear, go and buy it" even though i know it'll never happen.

but thanks again for the advice.

what do you mean, even for a "heavier" sound?

Go try a metal zone, then try a mesa dual rectifier and tell me amps cant get that heavy.. ._.

infact, most "metal" pedals are modeled after the rectifier.. alot of companies even call the model "recto" on their pedals

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

a spider micro cube is like the roland micro cube but the roland wins in sound quality
the spider sounds as digital as the spider IIIs
