So of late ive been practicing my hammer-ons and pull-offs quite a bit
much more than before (im on holidays atm), and the tips of my fingers gradually start to get sensitive etc, but i dont mind it, except after a while the bit between my thumb and forefinger startes to ache and ihave to stop

WHY!?!?

what can i do to remedy this?

cheers

You'll build up calluses soon enough. After a while you'll be able to sand down wood with them.

Relax - if its the bit between you thumb and your index finger you are probably pressing on the back of your neck really hard with your thumb. I do that sometimes playing barre chords - at least when it hurts it makes me think about what I've been doing so I can try and sort out my technique instead of using brute strength and ignorance!

for now use your palms to sand down your wood.
Soon, death metal's drums will be so fast only computers will be able to listen to it.

Just like most things you try first time. It will hurt. Anal sex for example but keep at it and you will rock in no time.

both will go away in time. the finger tips is due to pushing on the strings, caluus will help. the ache between your thumb and finger is a muscle. that will go away as the muscle strngthens (through hammer ons and barre chords) hope this helps.

stop gripping the neck of your guitar as if you're trying to snap it...relax your grip a lil.
#16
Lighter strings may help as well
