Sometimes Metal bands, despite their aggression, have the courage to come on stage with just an acoustic guitar and sing ballads.
I respect this kind of behavior, they are at least trying to do something different.

Do you have any metal bands that composed a good acoustic song?
For example, One by metallica doesn't count because half of the song is heavy metal.

I pick Bron Yur Ar Stomp by Led Zeppelin, amazing acoustic song, and Forever by Kiss.
#2
Neither of those are particularly "heavy metal"

But Opeth have some fantastic ballad-y type songs.

Just listen to every song on Damnation, lol.
Every other song they've written also has acoustic riffs intertwined with other genres like Death metal

I can't think of any that are ALL acoustic...
but Avenged Sevenfold played most of Seize The Day acoustic last time I seen them live...great crowd sing along. The coldest rain by diecast is a piano/acoustic ballad...as is Vermillion Pt. 2 and Snuff by Slipknot, bother by Stone Sour. These may be completely off from what you are looking for but these are what came to my mind

True, i actually don't think Zeppelin is heavy metal at all compared to Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, who were their contemporaries.
But they still are considered as metal by the public, so...

Well I guess that's your fault, now isn't it?

Look them up. The Damnation album is all acoustic. Also, Burden off of the Watershed album is an amazing ballad.

It's more than that.

Metal is full of repetition, cliche, poor songwriting and chord progressions and substandard production. Because of that, there are only three metal bands I really listen to- Protest the Hero, Scar Symmetry and Opeth. They're all absolutely extraordinary.

I think Opeth often have the problem of repeating a section ad nauseam.

...modes and scales are still useless.

They've stopped doing that for the most part. It was really only an issue on Morningrise and Deliverance, imo.
