So christmas almost arrives and I want to buy a new amp.I already bought a Marshall 1922 with Black Widow speakers 2x12 cabinet, now I'm looking for a head.
I play like jazz,blues,(hard/classic) rock and a bit of metal. My budget on the head is about 700-800 €.
These are the amp I thought about :
*Orange Rockerverb 30 (990€ so I have to wait a bit longer to get it)

*Marshall TSL 60 W (about 1100 €,this isn't really an option b/c it's a bit too far out of my price range)

*ENGL Thunder 50 head ( 745 €,this would be perfect considering the price range but I'm pretty unsure about it)

*Peavey Windsore (350€ this was my original choise but I decided to wait until x-mas)

So which one do you recommend or are there any other amps that would suit me (notice: I like British voiced amps that can get pretty hot lead tones but not for extreme death/black/cancer/porn core or something)

Already played one and man it blew me away, this is by far my favorite amp but it's a bit out of my price range and the ENGL looks interesting too.

It comes down to the ENGL and the Orange really...

If I were you I'd make the effort to try them both out. Both are awesome.

ENGL or Orange. ENGL can do AMZING metal and cleans, but the Orange can only do good cleans.

Porncore? Interesting...

On topic: See if you can try out the Engl and see which you prefer, that or the Orange. Get the one you like most. It's that simple!

Yes, the Orange might be a little more expensive, but if you prefer it and still get the Engl, you're gonna have the knowledge that you didn't get the head you really wanted.
IE. Save more.

about the porncore...heck do I know how many kinds of extreme metal there is .
There are like 20 variations on what once was just metal, and they all kinda sound alike.
On topic:Thanks for the advice guys !

ENGL is amazing on the metal and clean end. Orange will do a GODLY job of a more rock/heavy rock rhythm tone, and possibly some decent leads. ENGL may be able to do that as well though.... I know my 530 pre can....
#13
I'd have the ENGL, personally. I just prefer the tone, there's no real other reason.

can you also get like a classic rockish sound out of it? or a nice blues lead tone?

Out of my 530 preamp, yes i can... no problem.

Out of the Thunder...

shouldnt be a problem, but google is your friend

So are the owners of said amp.... I would check the ENGL thread.

They replied in the ENGL owners thread that you CAN achieve a nice blues/grunge/classic rock tone out of the ENGL thunder. Hope this makes your mind up about it. If you decide on it, welcome to the ENGL family
