Ok, so i got a gibson sg (which is sickk) and my amp is marshall 250 dfx,,, and i need something new to get a new sound. im about to go to music stop to pick up some pedals, i know im getting a wah, most likely a vox, but i need help on a distortion pedal... i want something that can give me a heavy, thick sound like tony iommi but i also want the option to get a really aggressive sound, as in zakk wylde, dimebag. etc... help?

for iommi, as guitar world even says for iron man, and was in for cowboys from hell, the Boss Metal Zone or Metal Core for more trivium stuff

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

+1 MG's do suck.

I've gigged with those MGs before, seriously, save for a decent amp, they're crap. as for the pedal, a good cheap all rounder would be Digitech Hot Head.

Schecter C-1 Hellraiser
Ibanez GRG170DX
Peavey Vypyr 75
Fender Princeton 650 DSP w/ Celestion 80w speaker

The amount of fail in the beginning of the thread was tremendous

And to the person who said the Crushing overdrive ? well it's in an ad with the oh amazing god of not selling out and originalness, ZAKK WYLDE! wee!

Boss pedals are horrid for distortion (Delay, IMHO is one of their true and awesome strengths).

And actually, to the person who said most of us haven't played MGs, anybody who's been to a major chain music store has.

Sell the MG and Save for a better amplifier.

I have. Plus I used to use a Marshall G100R which was slightly better than an MG, but not by much. After playing and buying a decent tube amp it's shown just how trash they are.

I'm going to have to go with the new amp on this one. No point in throwing pedals in with a crappy amp; it won't sound any better. Once you do get some pedals, I am a big fan of most EHX pedals, the Metal Muff in particular. I love my Small Stone, too.
Good Deals: imgooley, pak1351

I'm going to have to agree with the others on saying you should just get a new amp. The MG's at higher wattage are really just massive practice amps, and don't do justice to the player for what you could have got for the same price.

No, that sounds ****ing horrible through an MG, and any amp (on the clean channel) for that matter.

In my ears...
