Ok, so I decided to get a new amp for christmas. I play classic rock, a little metal ( Maiden-ish) and I wasn't sure if I should get a Peavey vypyr 100 or the 75. I am in a band, but I would also like the amp to play well at bedroom levels too. If the vypyr isn't a good idea then what do you think would be a decent amp. Also, budget is 600 tops.

Thanks

at that price range, and with those styles, i think you should go tube
periphery/bulb!

Ibanez RG7321 w/ D-sonic in bridge

Peavey 5150 mk ii & b52 4x12 cab

line 6 podxt for recording

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

Windsor is a nice one too, and for the $600 budget it fits a little better.

Nice amps can sometimes be hard to find because all the collectors go in there and buy them up.

You might be able to find a Vetta combo for $600. I've actually been surprised at how cheap they go. I'm honestly blown away by the Vetta II I got today.

The Vypyr 75 should do, it's pretty loud, and it's a good quality amp.

Unless you want to follow the wagon and go tube.

ok, I looked into the Peavey Classics and I'm liking what I'm hearing. But would you recommend the 30 or the 50? Does the 50 have anything the 30 doesn't in terms of effects or tone? Reason im asking I have a Behringer Vamp2, and I don't know if it works well at all with tube amps?

50 is just basically a louder version of the 30. The 30 gets pretty damn loud though.

Modelling FX things will work better with a tube amp than a vypyr, but they won't sound as good as individual FX. I say go with the 30.
