right Metallica is a given. Personally I like to pretend the bus exploded and killed them all in '86.

original is good, licensed is made by the company that made the guitar. In other terms, they suck donkey balls. I have one and it's gotta swithc to original but don't ahve the money right now.

if you're looking for a bridge, i would recommend you just go for a kahler system instead.

how hard would it be to switch in a original?

depends which company licensed it, some are straight drop ins, other's require routing.

Some licensed Floyds aren't too bad. Apparently the Jackson ones are pretty good.

But I have an original in my Schecter, and it rocks.

No. Just no. Is the Edge Pro bad? No. Is the Original Edge bad? No. Is the JT580LP bad? no again.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

depends on which licensed trem you're talking about. a few are great (e.g. ibanez edge, gotoh, schaller), while a lot suck (e.g. ibanez lo-trs, most licensed ones on cheap guitars).
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

kinda in-between, i think. not as bad as the really cheapo licensed ones, but nowhere near as good as the good ones, either. the ones i've tried have felt really stiff and unresponsive... maybe that could be somewhat rectified with fewer springs, but that didn't help my kramer trem (which felt similarly unresponsive) all that much.

Maybe you should try sharpening the knife edges, Dave. that's why some of them "flutter".

i'm not getting any flutter on my kramer, that's the problem.

i should probably try that, though. i'm just scared i'll mess it up, it actually holds tuning not too badly, just it's annoying to use the trem much.

But those jacksons shouldn't have had dull knife edges, they were brand new in the shop. o_O
