Hey guys, I have gotten a ton of great deals on guitars but I think I got the best one yet tonight. It's a new 2005 Gibson Les paul Standard DC, and I only payed 1000 with tax on it. Apparently my guitarcenter had it at 1400 for about a year (which was cost) and no one bought it, so they "lowered their cost" (which doesn't make any sense) down to 925. Anyway here are a couple pictures of the beast:

At that same guitarcenter I have gotten a Highway 1 stratocaster for $425 and an Ibanez acoustic-electric with Fishman Aura electronics for $300 flat. I suppose they are just incompetent at selling anything higher end there. Of course my favorite deal on a guitar was my first.. a Takamine Jasmine that I traded a skateboard for 10 years ago. I still have that guitar and will keep it always, it's the only guitar I've kept long enough to be a natural relic, lol. I'm sure some of you have great stories too.

My Ibanez Radius in mint condition w/ the HSC for $200 has to be the best deal I've gotten so far.

Would you believe the mark-up on guitars is incredibly high? Even with the ridiculous discounts, they're still making money. Gibson guitars are overpriced bigtime. Don't get me wrong, they're nice guitars, they're just way overpriced.

Haha, I'd buy an MG half-stack for 50, they don't sound THAT terrible, just terrible for spending real money. Now that I got a lifetime axe, I'm thinking I need an ac30 or something legendary for an amp as well. Of course there is no end to guitar spending, ever.

well i'm getting nearly £200 off a brand new fender jazzmaster because it has a tiny chip on the headstock and a slightly cracked finish on the upper horn.

i also managed to get a 1998 epiphone sheraton for £270.

actually a lot of my guitars have been interesting deals, as i'd have never been able to afford them otherwise.

Laney VC30-112 with G12H30 speaker, or Session Rockette 30 for smaller gigs

My most amazing deal was a 64 Strat in the usual Tobbaco Sunburst Serial # L43870 I got at a yard sale in Winchester, Ma in the early 80s. I paid something like $50.00 or $60.00 with the original tweed case, Paperwork including the sales reciept and the woman who sold it to me said it even had the original strings on it! LOL. It was in such nice condition and had a rosewood fret board and the Fender logo didn't look right to me so I didn't really think it was that old or original until I got it home and looked it up. Even then I brought it to my local repairman to have him check it out and he went crazy over it he called it the time capsule guitar. I hate strats I was a Gibby collector so when I resold it for $$$$$$, enough to buy a new high end car then, cash with some left over for partying. I didn't miss it at all but wish I held on to it Today it would sell easily over 50 or 60 grand maybe more. I also bought a late 50s Fender Broadcaster (Tele) (only a 4 number serial#) about a year later and sold it to the same guy who bought the Strat for big bucks as well. I made more money on that but my investment was a lot more.

I have also bought a lot of vintage guitars over the years that I basically stole and sold for big $$$. It seems like they have all dried up but you never know what you might find someone has no clue what it's worth. I go out and look for these deals I do a lot of traveling but it's worth it IMHO.
