buckethead does something kinda like that but a bit simpler
like he does the bassy sorta stuff with his left and the higher notes with his right

but still that sounded really good and that guy is awesome

This is an oldie.. its gets posted up as something new at least once a year xD Its not super huge on the 8 finger tap. but still a very dextrous guitarist. lots of different movements going on in the first piece there.

It's a Line6 Variax. If I remember correctly, there's only a piezo pickup in the bridge. It's built as a digital guitar for a simple home studio. You can even change tunings (not really, but the on board computers calculates the new tuning and how it should sign) via a rotary knob.
