I'm looking to buy a new amp and need some recommendations. I would like an amp that can handle a variety of styles since I'm am not locked in on playing only one genre. I play mostly alternative though (think old Weezer) but also dable in metal. I am willing to spend $1000. No more than 50 watts and must be tube.

Line 6 spider III and Roland Cubes have a lot of effect channels, but the Cubes are not crisp at all. Very muddy.

Maybe you could get a marshall, with four or five pedals?

MUST be tube? That's rediculous. Just get a Marshall. Greatest amps in the world. lol my friend has this little Ibanez and when we play together my Marshall blows his out of the sky. It was very affordable too only $250

my cube is almost too crisp at times, i don't know where you're getting muddy from.

but anyway i don't know why they'd even be brought up with a budget of $1000.

that ENGL seems a decent fit.

OMG
This thread
Has so much fail

TS- Go for a used Orange Rocker 30, or a used Marshall JCM900
a Vox Ac30 would also be a good choice
ENGLs might be too hi-gain for what you are playing.

Second the Orange, how much is it?

Engl's are really good for cleans though.......

If you have $1000 to spend you're looking at used 6505+ territory. Its a very good amp for the money.

if the Engl's high gain for this stuff then the 6505+ is way outta the ballpark

still a good amp though but don't think it's what TS is looking for
