This is so metal:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jun/19/usa.guantanamo

Here's my favorite quote from the article:

"I think they just show up at work with whatever they're listening to at the time. There's no shortage of metal-heads in the army, that's for sure. These guys who are going into battle, they're not listening to Elton John beforehand."

Pretty interesting article nonetheless

They're most likely playing it at levels where it's so loud, it's just a slush of noise.

Its about time. Better than that nonsense Enter Sandman they were playing a few years back. I dont see whats so bad about using music as torture. No one gets hurt, and its TORTURE, its supposed to be straining!

I dont recall a time when people surveyed their victims asking what music, pillow color, and shoes they liked best, or what their favorite torture method was lmao

Metallica and the Barney song were also used as torture.

You saying psychological torture doesn't hurt? Look into what the army did in Ireland from 1960 onwards, you might change your mind.

But what do they do if they have no information to give?

Yeah, I mean just imagine having to listen to the same Deicide song over and over at insanely loud volumes. That's not even really just psychological, it harms your ears physiologically so badly it causes you to go mental

I heard Sunn O))) was used to torture victims for days at a time in some military prison. They were blindfolded and stuck in a small area (probably chain or something) for up to three days and not a single person was sane after. It was one of their weird feedback songs like Angel Coma or something, instead of ones with notes. Just on a loop, over and over.

The title says Deicide, nice attempt to make someone laugh and respect your humour though.

Maybe it's a Deicide song

For some reason I see that being some extreme death/black metal Compilations.

Now that is torture.

Such posturing may go with the territory for an artist of the Metallica genre, so there is no need to speculate about whether Hetfield is being naive or wilfully ignorant.

Wuh? So, all metal fans are completely ignorant of the war and how it's fought? Fail for Socialist newspaper, I think Hetfield should be put in charge of the Coalition, just for a day.

Listening to Enter Sandman is torture especially when nine year olds are playing it over and over again out of rhythm and tune at Guitar Center. Way worse than listening to Deicide.

Honestly, so do I. There's something strangely attractive in their music. I think it's the vocals, I get insane imagery of what the hell was going on when they made the music. And every once in a while you can hear music in the background. It's comforting, oddly.

article? i'm having a hard time believing this, but if it's true than that's really interesting.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.

I'm listening to Stalaggh right now, before going to sleep. I feel warm and cosy. : D

i've always wanted to get Stalaggh. they sound like something i'd be interested in.

Oh man, they could just bring Oli Sykes in to speak to prisoners for a while. They'd either start killing themselves or get someone to kill them.

That music is true torture. It burns my ears listening to it.
