Carl Thompson 6'er, a more conservative Ritter or a CS Warwick Thumb in buckeye/walnut burl, pure sex (6string, of course.)

As far as boutique basses, I'd love a CT or Alembic. Or one of Rick Turner's basses--esp the one he just made for Stanley Clarke.

And yes Nick I dearly want a Carl Thompson. Damn, he's releasing 10 or so new basses for about 2700 USD. Unfortunately that's near what I pay on my mortage each month

I'm going to say:

Ritter Royals
This luthier guy who's bass was reviewed in Bass Player magazine- if anyone remembers, it had magnets holding the control compartment closed, and a flamed top with matching pickup covers
Conklin

And naturally, CGI basses.

As weird as some Ritters look, apparently they are incredibly comfortable basses to play.

If I wouldn't worry that I was playing a bass that costs more than I have to my name at the moment, a Ritter would be quite nice to have.

Can you imagine what it would feel like to scratch the platinum finish?

Ach, beaten...

Check out this beast:

Anyone play any of their non-custom stuff at GC? We had a couple of fivers at one point(~$2000 used), and they were amazing...they had the smoothest tones I've heard in quite some time, yet they could still growl...it was strange, but awesome. They had really thin, wide necks though, it was hard to get over that.
Nope, no sig here.

^ they are quite beautiful

I think this is a good time for this one:

It's a Piezo-only bass, with all of the hardware poking out the back. The neck and body are a single piece...there are only two pieces of wood on this thing. Oh, and it's coated in platinum.

I'd have to say Eshenbaugh or Schecter Custom Shop, if you consider that boutique. Check em out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOcAV9989Bo There's a demo of one of the Eshenbaugh basses. There's more on his channel and a link to the site. Sorry for any GAS caused. =] Oh, and also, www.schecterguitars.com. I love them too.

I watched the eBay auction where he won it. It went for over 12 grand.
