hey guys

i got my bass neck about a week ago and since then it's been nothing but trouble

The neck won't fit to the body properly. at first it actually wouldn't fit into the space, but now i've sanded it down so that it fits, but the two screws furthest from the neck on the neck plate don't screw in the whole way and although it's fine from the 12th fret up to the 20th, the strings are dangerously close to the fret wire, especially at the first fret where it's touching. There's a hell of a lot of buzz as well, even when playing the string open.

What do i do to rectify this?

have it taken care by a luthier, I wouldn`t experiment too much myself with that..

How did this come about anyway?

What has actually happened, did you try building a Bass?

yeah i'm building a Precision

but with a Telecaster bass neck
i think that's why it didn't fit in the first place

Hmm it should be ok.

The neck screws, they do match the holes? If so just buy longer screws.

Fret buzz problem. Give it a simple set-up check, raise the actions a little at the bridge. I have a problem on my bass, the groove for the A string at the nut is too low, giving it some bad fret fuzz from 1st fret to about 7th. Maybe check the nut?

About the build, please tell me you're fitting an ashtray cover over the bridge? It just wouldn't look right without it lol.
