Im going on a pretty long flight tomorrow and I would like to buy a book to read on the flight. Im open for pretty much everything as long as the book isn't like some magic child type stuff. I like books that make you think or have a good purpose, so help me out please.

edit: Also please explain the book and why you liked it.
Call me Trey.

We're reading Jurassic Park in English, and I'm already hooked to it. There's so much in the book that's not in the movie, that you should totally check it out even if you already saw it.

Right now i'd recommend The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, by Muriel Spark. Hugely entertaining, read it and find your own reasons for liking it

(I know you won't listen anyway, lol )

Read the Paul Carpenter books by Tom Holt (individually they're called The Portable Door, In Your Dreams and Earth, Air, Fire and Custard). They're funny, clever and generally awesomeness in paper form. Think elements of Terry Pratchett but set in real life England.

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas!

Stephen Hawking's a Brief History of time is pretty cool if you're into that sort of stuff (there is also a briefer history of time)

I'm currently in the middle of Moby Dick, and it's pretty good so far. The language is a bet bleh, but if you can get past that and his infinite rambling, you'll like it.

I second Jurassic Park. Michael Chricton is an Excellent writer, If you've already read Jurassic Park, Try Sphere or the Andromeda Strain.

Some Jules Verne is always good.

From a Buick 8 by Stephen King is pretty good.

One more Book, Patriot games by Tom Clancy.

hell's angels by hunter s. thompson is pretty engaging.

right now i'm reading corporations are gonna get your mama which i wouldn't seek out as a flight book. however, i'm also reading devil's knot about the west memphis three case. i've seen the two paradise lost documentaries, but it's still engaging and interesting. the author was a reporter in little rock at the time of the whole ordeal and (so far) she writes with a very matter-of-fact presentation of the story. the way she tells it makes me feel like i'm there watching all the events unfold. i think the book also expounds more on alternative theories. the fact that john mark byers (vocal stepdad of one of the victims, specifically the one who was castrated) was prone to domestic violence and also had shady drug deals (as well as being a drug informant for the police) so that raises the stakes. i don't remember the movies hitting on that too much. so yeah ... devil's knot!

i got it last night and read through page 50 in one sitting after buying it. they're just now starting to talk about damien and his past and how he became a suspect. good stuff.
